The second annual Henricus Dauber Dash, a 5-mile mud run through Henricus Historical Park and the Dutch Gap Conservation area, is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 7.

Named for the Daubers that built the mud walls and houses at the settlement site 400 years ago, the run features a course that starts at the Citie of Henricus and goes around the trail loop of Dutch Gap. The course incorporates multiple obstacles including hay bales, a cargo net, a short trudge through the river, and a final mud pit at the finish line designed to challenge the participants.

There will also be a 1-mile Mud Guppies Kids Run for kids ages 8-14 at 11 a.m. This course features its own obstacles and finishes through the same mud pit as the adults.

All participants will receive an event T-shirt and post-race food. Prizes will be awarded to overall male and female winners and to age group winners as well. There will also be awards for “Best Mud” and “Best Costume.”

Online registration is available until Wednesday, August 5 at 11:59 p.m. The entry fee for the Henricus Dauber Dash is $30, and the entry fee for the Mud Guppies Kids Run is $10 until online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 5. Walk up registrations will be accepted on event day for an additional $5. For further event details and registration information, visit http://www.sportsbackers.org or call (804) 285-9495.
