Cycling enthusiasts are invited to attend the annual Pedal Power event hosted by GroundForce ITTM on March 20. Two-person teams connect their bikes to an energy-harnessing device that generates DC current while cyclists pedal for 30 minutes. The cycling demo shows how human energy can be converted to an alternate power source. Prizes are awarded to top teams who generate the most watts and the Madsen Cargo bike contest winner will be announced. The event will be held at Endorphin Fitness, 8910 Patterson Avenue, Richmond, VA from 9-11 a.m. with breakfast served. Participants must register in advance at www.pedalpwr.com and plan to bring their own bike to the event.
Pedal Power, founded in 2009, is a non-profit organization committed to advancing energy-sustainable lifestyles through public education and demonstration events such as their signature, team cycling competition. Pedal Power educates the community on steps to reduce energy consumption and minimize impact on the environment.
