Goochland football players Thomas Meadows and Trevor Jenkins both made noteworthy news over the past month.

Last week, Jenkins, a senior left offensive tackle, made an early verbal commitment to accept a full scholarship to Liberty University.

This year Liberty comes into the season ranked No. 20 in the FCS preseason football poll.

At the beginning of August, senior kicker Thomas Meadows was named to the Ray Guy/ProKicker.com Kicking Academy National Rankings list.

Meadows was among thousands of high school football players from across the United States to attend a Ray Guy camp which was held in 30 different cities around the country.

To make the National Rankings list, Meadows was individually evaluated on kicking and punting, hang-time, distance and accuracy.

Meadows ranked No. 3 among kickers with an average kickoff of 63.50 yards and a hang-time of 3.72. Meadows also recorded a 100 percent accuracy on field goals.

In punting, Meadows also ranked third with an average distance of 40.80 yards and a hang time of 4.11 seconds.

The two category rankings gave Meadows the No. 1 rating as a punter/kicker combo.

Meadows was also ranked No. 4 among punter/kickoff specialists and 16th among strictly kickoff specialists.
