Cooke, 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, hit 17 field goals this season, which ties Shane Graham for second most in VHSL history. His longest was 51 yards, which came in the Division 2 state title game, which the Bulldogs lost 21-16 to Gretna.
Cooke received a full ride to Vanderbilt. He intends to grayshirt, meaning he won’t enroll until January of 2013.
Cooke was the only kicker selected to the 53-member All-American team. Three Virginians made it, including Alex Carter, a 6-1, 190-pound defensive back from Briar Woods, and Trey Edmunds, a 6-2, 205-pound running back from Dan River.
