The race for Circuit Court Clerk (Turner, who runs as an Independent is challenged by Republican hopeful Carla Yuen) isn’t the only one that may prove interesting.
There are now three (unofficial) candidates for District 3 in the Goochland Courthouse area, where current Board Chairman Joseph Lacy will be challenged by William “Bill” Burnet and Ned Creasey. District 5 in Manakin should also be good with Perry “Pat” Turner challenging longtime — and often outspoken — supervisor Jim Eads. Kathy Crockett has said she will challenge incumbent Andrew Pryor in District 4 as she did in the last election.
Because there are relatively few opportunities for the public to hear candidates’ positions on the issues, and the only “debates” are in the distant future and fairly limited in length and subject matter, we will continue to bring you candidate profiles in the coming months leading up to the November election.
It would be nice, however, if there were more opportunities here in the early stages where candidates could get up, introduce themselves and help shed some light on where they stand and what they’d propose to do differently, or what they think’s working just fine.
