Message: I found this on The Goochland Gazette site and thought you'd be interested: From the 12/24/09 Edition Bowman Betty Ann Henley Bowman, 67, of Manakin-Sabot, went to be with the Lord Nov. 30, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, L. Arden and Margaret V. Henley; and brother, Lawrence Henley. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Charles “Duck” Bowman; four children, Margaret White of Nashville, Tenn., Catherine Farmer and her husband, Tim, of Loudoun, Elizabeth Ann Meyer and her husband, Steve, of Midlothian, and Charles L. Bowman II and his wife, Masumi Hyodo, of Richmond; eight grandchildren, Troy Farmer, Cody Farmer, Haley White, Carly Farmer, Elska Bowman, Drew Meyer, Samantha Ann Meyer and William Bowman. Mrs. Bowman was a member of the Goochland Woman’s Club. She was the Goochland Christmas Mother and was involved in helping organize Goochland’s Christmas Mother Program for the past 30 years and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society . She enjoyed bowling, art, rug hooking, gardening and her grandchildren. She had a very big heart and will be missed by all of those whose lives she touched. A memorial service was held Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 at Dover Baptist Church. Graveside services were private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , Goochland’s Christmas Mother or Dover Baptist Church. Griffith John Earle Griffith, 87, of Goochland, passed away on Dec. 19, 2009. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Hope S. Griffith. He is survived by two sons, Richard T. Griffith (Debbie) of Goochland and James D. Griffith (Carol) of Hendersonville, N.C. His Grandchildren are, Tracey Griffith, Suzanne Griffith, Kevin Griffith, and Kyle Griffith and a Great Granddaughter, Tara Guy. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. Funeral Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Mathew’s United Methodist Church Food Bank. Arrangements by Norman Funeral Home, Goochland, Va. McCown Shirley F. McCown, 83, of Greeneville, formerly of Goochland, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at Laughlin Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Earl Dean McCown and was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathie L. Elliott, and a sister, Elizabeth I. Markwalter. Survivors include her granddaughter: Jacquelyn D. Elliott of Greeneville; her great-granddaughter: Kristin M. Wonderley of Greeneville; her son-in-law: Jack P. Elliott of Goochland; two brothers and sisters-in-law: James F. and Lynn Davenport of Sebastian, Fla., and William and Pat Davenport of El Paso, Texas; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and his wife: Robert and Margaret Poland of Richmond, Va.; and her special friends: Scarlett Ackart Taylor and Nick Taylor. Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service in Greeneville is in charge of arrangements. Graveside services were held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
