Baldwin
Mrs. Betty Sue Baldwin, age 77, passed away from complications of Alzheimer’s at the home of her eldest daughter, Virginia Baldwin-Bergstrom in Lakeland, Fla., where she was receiving hospice care. Born on Oct. 26, 1931 in North Carolina, she moved to Lakeland in 2006 from Bumpass, Va. Mrs. Baldwin was a member of Bethany Christian Church in Bumpass. She was a former Teacher’s Aide at Jouett Elementary School in Mineral. Mrs. Baldwin was preceded in death by her husband, Walter C. Baldwin Sr. She is survived by her sons, Steven Wayne (Deborah) Baldwin of Fairport, N.Y. and Walter C. (Julie) Baldwin Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; her daughters, Virginia Mae (Garry) Baldwin-Bergstrom of Lakeland and Beth “Betty” (Mark) Baldwin Longo of Bumpass; brothers, Fred Smith of Randleman, N.C. and Charles Smith of North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Lori Baldwin of Raleigh, N.C., Tim Baldwin of Clifton Park, N.Y., Angie Baldwin Roda of Tampa, Katie Baldwin Toth of Tampa, Tracy Baldwin of Tampa, Eric Bergstrom of Europa, Miss., Kristy Bergstrom Austin of Lakeland, Nick Bergstrom of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Megan Longo of Bumpass; and seven great-grandchildren, Coleman Bergstrom, Piperann Bergstrom, Kordelia Bergstrom, Garrett Bergstrom, Kayelyn Austin, Carlee Austin, and Caleb Roda. Her remains rest at the Lacy Funeral Home, Route 522, Mineral, where the family received friends Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009. Graveside funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009 at the King-Baldwin family cemetery, behind her home at 223 Rabbit Run Road, Bumpass. Online guestbook available at http://www.lacyfh.com.

Bath
William Morris Bath Jr., 58, of Gum Spring, Va., was called to his heavenly home after his battle with cancer on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009. He was preceded in death by his father, William Bath Sr.; and his sister-in-law, Christine Upton. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 41 years, Shirley Parrish Bath; his daughters, Sherry Alston “Buddha”, Jena Bath “Lady”, and Angie Bath “Monkey”; his mother, Ruth Coleman; his brother, Scott Richardson (Mary); his grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda, Sean, Alex, Kamren, William Christian, and Elijah; also Keigh Montgomery “his son”; Velma Goodwin, mother-in-law; Linwood Parrish; brother-in-law and other beloved family members and friends. Funeral services were held held Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 in Oakland Baptist Church; graveside services followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends at the church Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 and Friday, Sept. 4, 2009. He was previously employed by Jones Commercial Construction for 25 years as project superintendent. De Lotto
John Thomas De Lotto, 78, of Amelia, passed away on Sept. 10, 2009. A veteran of the Marine Corps, who served during the Korean War, his hobbies included bowling and building and flying model planes. He is survived by his wife, Marie; son, John P. De Lotto and wife, Cindy, of Amelia; daughter, Diane Pezzillo and husband, Jim, of N.M.; brother, Donald and wife, Ann Marie, of New Jersey; sister, Doris De Lotto of New Jersey; grandchildren, Derek De Lotto, Danielle Kuhlman and husband, Bill, and Jeffrey Boyajian. The family received friends on Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St., in Amelia. A Catholic Mass ws held at Good Samaritan Catholic Church on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009; graveside services followed at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery.

Hawk
Edward Harrel Hawk 89, of Maidens, Va. died Sept. 11, 2009.  He is survived by One son, Floyd Hawk and friend Debra, Three Grandchildren, Floyd Jr., Pee Wee, and Victor, Two Step Grandsons, Donald and Ronald Dunlavey, Seven Great Grandchildren, Two Sisters, Jean Harris and Mary Pinney, Two Brothers, Earl Hawk and Robert Gay Hawk.  Remains rest at Norman Funeral Home, Goochland, Va.  where family received friends Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009.  Graveside services were held Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009. at the Hawk Family Cemetery, Maidens, Va.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Goochland Co. 5 Rescue.

Patterson
Mildred Ann Waldrop Patterson, 57 of Louisa, passed away, Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at her home. Survivors include her loving husband: James Patterson, Jr., her parents: Herbert F. Waldrop and Gladys Duncan Waldrop; two sons: James Patterson III and fiancé Lindsey Rowe, and Christopher Patterson; two daughters: Ashlee Patterson, and Kelly Patterson; step-son: William Eugene Patterson; step-daughter: Elizabeth Marie Patterson; two brothers: James Waldrop, and Steve Waldrop; step-grandchildren: Sean and Jayson Williams, and many nieces and nephews. Sampson
Anna N. Sampson 63, of Sandy Hook, Virginia, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Richmond, Virginia with her family by her side. Survivors include her husband: Ronald Sampson; children: Ryan, Jennifer, and Michael; grandchildren: Joshua, Matthew, Caroline, and Nathan. A memorial service was held, 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Gum Spring United Methodist Church, 35 Church Lane, Gum Spring, Virginia, 23065. Simpson
June Simpson, age 73, of Blackstone, Virginia, wife of Clarence Simpson, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009. The family received friends at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Road, Bus. Hwy. 460, near Blackstone, Friday, Sept. 11, 2009. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at the Blackstone Presbyterian Church, 301 Church Street, Blackstone, Va. 23824. Whitehurst
Mary Parrish Whitehurst “Marybelle”, 76, of Sandy Hook, passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009. She was born March 22, 1933 to David Louis Parrish, Sr. and Marjorie Siddons Parrish in Goochland County. She was a member of Ragland Memorial Baptist Church in Sandy Hook. Marybelle is survived by her daughters, Donna W. Alvis and her husband Dean of Mineral, Melody Eastman of Madison Heights, Stephanie W. Taylor of Glen Allen, her son, James Whitehurst of Colorado, her brothers, David Louis Parrish, Jr., Leroy T. Parrish and his wife Geraldine, Carroll “Bush” Parrish, all of Sandy Hook, her sister, Arlene Goodwin and her husband Edgar of Mineral, her grandchildren, Hailey Alvis, Jordan Alvis, Madison Eastman, Wyatt Taylor, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond Ellis Whitehurst, her grandson, Nathan Osborne and a sister-in-law, Ella Ruth Parrish. A funeral service conducted by Pastor Ed Rodriguez was held Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 at Ragland Memorial Baptist Church in Sandy Hook, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
