Weeks
Joseph “Joe” Preble Weeks, 72, of Manakin, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at home peacefully in his sleep. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Susan; daughter, Ursel Huber (Frank); son, Joseph (Bonnie); grandchildren, Erin and Francesca Huber and Parker and Cailin Weeks; and sister, Anne Hancock. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Weeks and Caroline Brosius Weeks; and sister, Lydia Lee Green. Joe retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years active duty service achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Tours of duty included four years in Germany, two tours in Vietnam, and two years in Turkey along with several tours at U.S. installations in between. Upon retirement, he became active with the Republican Party, serving his country at state and local community levels. In 1984, Joe became the 3rd generation of Weeks’ to manage Rochambeau, the family farm in Goochland County. Joe and his wife, Sue permanently moved to the farm in 1988 where they currently live. Services were held Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 at St Mary’s Catholic Church on Gayton Road, Henrico County. The family received friends after the mass at Deep Run Hunt Club on Manakin Road in Goochland County. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Manakin Station #1 or Centerville Station #3 Volunteer Fire & Rescue Departments. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Norman Funeral Home Goochland, Va., is assisting the family.
