Egleston

Jim Egleston, “Slider”, of Gum Spring, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; their three children, Iain, Brandi and Ashley; his sons, Jay and Jimmy; his mother, Nancy; his father, Harry; three brothers, Mark, Glen, and Timothy; his sister, Jamie. He also leaves behind his grandchildren who were his heart and soul. His remains rested at Lacy Funeral Home, Rt. 522, Mineral, Va., where funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010. The family received friends at 3 p.m. on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, “Slider” would appreciate donations to his family at 4360 Broad Street Rd., Gum Spring, Va. 23063. Evancho

Jeanne G. Evancho, of Goochland, passed away July 28, 2010. Preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Emil E. Evancho, she is survived by two daughters, Bridget Hutchison, her devoted caregiver, and Mary Bull; two grandchildren, Maggie Evancho of Tuscon, Ariz., and Hillary Hutchison of Richmond; her brother, Bernard Geyer of Norwich, Ohio; sister-in-law, Wilma Weir of Florida. Jeanne is finally at peace. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The family received friends, Monday, Aug. 2, 2010 at Bliley’s-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Logan

Mary Elizabeth Logan, 94, of Goochland, Va., departed this life on Saturday, July 24, 2010. She is survived by her loving family and friends. Her remains rest at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, 2530 Dogtown Rd., Goochland, Va. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 29, 2010, 2 p.m. at Second Union Baptist Church, Goochland, Va.

Meece

Susan W. Meece, 44, of Goochland, passed away July 24, 2010. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Meece; two brothers, Robert and James Lewis; two sisters, Carolyn Arutunian, all of Richmond Va., and Ann Schockley of Cinncinati, Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews. Family received friends at Norman Funeral Home, Goochland, Va., on Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Services were held at Westhampton Memorial Park on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 in the Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Goochland County Rescue Squad Company #5.

Stephens

Madge Coffey Stephens, 93, of Goochland, went to be with the Lord July 27, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Stephens Sr.; her son, Robert “Bobby” Stephens Jr.; and daughter, Dottie Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Monte; grandchildren, Steven and Ashley Monte, David, Edward and Leslie Davis, Nora Simmons, Debbie Woodfin, Vickie Scott, Chris and Timmy Stephens; and 10 great-grandchildren. Remains rest at the Norman Funeral Home, Goochland Va., where family received friends Thursday, July 29, 2010.  Funeral services were held at Ragland Memorial Baptist Church on Friday, July 30, 2010. Graveside services were held at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Ragland Memorial Baptist Church or Hospice of Virginia.
