Brooking
Boothe Bland, “Francis” Brooking, 79, of Goochland, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 22, 2008. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Doris Parrish Brooking; his children, James William Brooking and his companion, Candace McKinley, of Sandy Hook, Evelyn “Liz” of Sandy Hook, and Betty Nicholas and devoted son-in-law, Glen, of Louisa; two granddaughters, Danielle Brooking of Sandy Hook and Kris “Jay” Rachmel of Waynesboro; great-grandson, Matthew Bland Serrett; his brother, Dale Brooking and wife, Bee, of Richmond; his sister, Jane Jandrlich of Gadsden, Ala.; sister-in-law, June Brooking of Sandy Hook; and numerous nieces and nephews. Francis was a devoted father, enjoyed the great outdoors, loved his garden, and was a lifetime lumberman. The family received friends at the Lacy Funeral Home, Rte. 522, Mineral, Va. on Thursday, July 24, 2008. Graveside services were private. Parrish
Ruth Marie “Keyhole” Parrish, of Goochland, passed away July 25, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald W. Parrish. She is survived by two daughters, and their husbands, Evelyn and Warren Lipscomb, Debbie and Miles Barrick; three granddaughters, Kim Shumate, Maygan Elliott and Amanda Henley; four great-grandchildren; brother, Sonny Hughes; and sister, Edna Grant. The family received friends at the Norman Funeral Home on Sunday, July 27, 2008. A graveside service was held at Westhampton Memorial Park on Monday, July 28, 2008. Memorial donations may be made to Goochland Company 5 Rescue or Bon Secours Hospice.

Southworth
Thelma P. Southworth, 84, of Ruther Glen, passed away peacefully July 23, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fleming Southworth. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and William B. “Bill” Anderson Jr. of Ruther Glen; grandson, Scott Southworth and his wife, Chrystal; two great-grandchildren, Whitney and Michael; her sister, Bernice Beazley and her husband, Gordon; her brother, Lee Dyson; two sisters-in-law, Grace Walton and Dora Ann Polly; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Saturday, July 26, 2008 in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with graveside services following in Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover. Waldrop
Ann Barden Waldrop, 71, of Crozier, Va., went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyn and Annie Barden; and a sister, Donna Burkholder. She is survived by her husband, James E. Waldrop Sr.; daughter, Tracy Vance (Todd); son, R. Dean Waldrop (Lisa); four grandchildren, Thomas and Autumn Vance, and Sarah and Mary Waldrop; two brothers, Dickie and David Barden; one sister, Nancy Davis, all of Powhatan, Va. The family received friends Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Norman Funeral Home, Goochland, Va. Funeral services were held Monday, June 30, 2008 at Salem Baptist Church. Graveside services were held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Co. #2 Fire Department, Crozier, Va.
