Baker
Antoinette Flowers Townsend Baker, of Richmond, passed away June 13, 2010, at the age of 72. She grew up at Manskin Lodge in Manquin, Va., where she attended King William County Public Schools. Flowers later graduated from high school at Stuart Hall in Staunton. As a member of the class of 1959 at Hollins College, she spent her sophomore year studying at The University of Paris Sorbonne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Barnes Townsend Sr. of Manquin; and a sister, Kathleen Ashley Townsend of Mechanicsville. She is survived by two daughters and a son, Nancy McClure Williams of Princeton, N.J., Deborah McClure Ball of Tappahannock and William T. Baker of Richmond. She is also survived by a sister and two brothers, Jane Townsend Lewis of Lewisberry, Pa., Hugh Barnes Townsend Jr. and Howard Ashley Townsend Sr., both of Manquin. Flowers had six grandchildren. Visitation was held at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Services were held Thursday, June 17, 2010 at McKendree United Methodist Church in King William. Contributions may be made to the McKendree United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Bizzell
Magdalene Swecker Bizzell, 82, of Richmond, formerly of Salem, died June 18, 2010. Mrs. Bizzell was a retired music teacher for Goochland and Henrico Counties and Richmond City as well as Soprano Soloist and choir director, former member of the Richmond Choral Society, Richmond Opera Group and the Arts Guild. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William Bennett Bizzell II; sons, William Bennett III, James Sangster, Joseph Swecker (Beverly) Bizzell and Charles Given; and daughter, Grace Elizabeth; grandchildren, Sylvia Jo and Christin Alice Bizzell and William Wesley; and daughter-in-law, Susan T. Bizzell. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 24, at 1 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, 411 E. Grace St., in the Chapel. Reception to follow at the church.
DuVall
Betty Blevins DuVall, 69, of Richmond, passed away June 16, 2010. Preceded in death by her husband Ralph, sisters, Lois Wills, Bernice Hodges, Ola Mae McMillion, brother, Joe Blevins. Survived by her daughters, Mary (Steve) Lauterbach, Carolyn (Charlie) Litchford, Patricia Payne, and Doris (Leroy) Johnson, 14 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, (5) Brothers, Charles, Jimmy, Tom, Bill and Bob Blevins. (3) Sisters, Carol Gross, Ellen Poore, and Nancy Lloyd, numerous nieces and nephews. A very Special and Devoted Brother-In-Law, Allen Wills and (3) Beloved Pets. Family received friends at the Norman Funeral Home, Goochland, Va. Friday, June 18, 2010. Graveside services were held Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Perkins Baptist Church.
