Crossland

Michael Crossland, father of Caitlin and Matthew Crossland of Manakin Sabot, passed away on April 27, 2010.  Born in Natick, Massachusetts he was recently a resident of North Port, Florida.  Michael was a Navy veteran and will be interred in Sarasota National Cemetery on May 14.  In addition to his children, Michael is survived by his father Ellis D. Crossland of Englewood, FL and his sister Dawn Petrasek and her husband Dennis of Boca Raton, FL.

Nuckols

Roggie Elmore Nuckols, 94, of Manakin-Sabot, went to be with our Lord on May 14. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas E. Nuckols. Roggie is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Virginia “Cupsy” Faudree Nuckols; children, Peggy N. Jones (Junior), Charles R. Nuckols (Jean), Shirley N. Johnson (V.L.), Jerry R. Nuckols (Barbara) and Emett A. Nuckols (Elaine); 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family received friends on Sunday, May 16 t the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street. A funeral service was held Monday, May 17 a St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church. Graveside services followed in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Centreville Rescue Squad (#3) or to St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church.

Smith

Amentha Lee Smith, 77, of Goochland, departed this life Wednesday, May 12. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary S. and Eddie Taylor Sr.; husband, Horace Smith Sr.; and sons, William, Alexander, and Presley Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Horace Jr. and Aubry; two sisters, Pauline Fowler and Catherine Taylor; one brother, Eddie Taylor Jr.; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. The family received friends at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, Goochland, Va. Funeral services were held Monday, May 17 t the Chief Cornerstone Baptist Church. Rev. Adlai Allen, pastor. Graveside services were held in the church cemetery.

White

Harry Samuel White, of Goochland, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 16. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Jane Brooks White; three children, H. Michael White and his wife, Dianne, Samuel C. White and his wife, Patty, and Susan White Duty and husband, Brad; five grandchildren, Jason M. White and wife, Sara, Jordan White, Carrie Beth White, Kimberly Duty and Coleman Duty. Harry served his country for eight years as a sergeant in the Army National Guard, was a master carpenter and loved to farm and was a lifetime member of Gum Spring United Methodist Church. The family received friends on Tuesday, May 18, at Lacy Funeral Home, Rte. 522, Mineral. Funeral service was held at Gum Spring United Methodist Church on Wednesday, May 19, at 2 p.m., with interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gum Spring United Methodist Church Building Fund, 16 Church Ln., Gum Spring, Va. 23065. Online guestbook available at http://www.lacyfh.com.
