Henry Thomas Childress, 80, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Bernice; daughter, Pam Taylor (G.R.); sons, H.T. (Brenda) and Ronnie (Kathy) Childress; grandchildren, Cathy Williams, Cara Meyer, Cristen Taylor, Kevin and Brian Bowlin, Thomas and Allison Childress, Kristina Wilkinson, and Nikki Childress; and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucy Hall, Audrey Bryant, Bell Webb, Lou Higham; and his brother, Clemmon Childress. He served in the U.S. Navy, spending 14½months overseas in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Tom was a past president of Rockville Ruritan Club, member of the Centerville Rescue Squad, active and faithful member of Berea Baptist Church. His remains rest at the West Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., where the family will receive friends and family from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 26. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Berea Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Centerville Rescue Squad or a charity of choice.
