BURBACH
Charles Richard “Chuck” Burbach, 86, of Manakin-Sabot, was called suddenly and tenderly to be with his loving Savior on Friday, March 9, 2007. He served almost 13 years as a pilot in the U.S. Navy during WWII and as an intelligence officer for the 7th Fleet during the Korean War. His childhood was spent in Sharon, Pennsylvania. He attended Georgia Tech, University of Southern California and later earned his B.A. and Masters Degrees in Government and Public Administration from American University. After his military service, Chuck served as assistant to the Fairfax County Executive. Later, working in the State of Delaware, he rewrote forms of county government into modern day language. In 1969, he began serving as the Chief of Community Affairs for the State of Virginia, aiding all 99 counties with their issues and serving under three governors. In his retirement years, he enjoyed working for First Virginia Bank and Ukrop’s Supermarkets. He was a devoted and loving husband to Jean Paulson Burbach for 62 years. His family also includes his daughter Sharon Rydell, her husband, Scott and daughter Sandra Nylander, her husband, David; grandchildren, Madeline Tullier, Danielle Tullier Bushman, Damien Tullier, Erika Rydell, Aaron Rydell, John Nylander, Thomas Nylander, and Matthew Nylander; and eleven great-grandchildren. His sense of humor and devotion to God, country and family will be sorely missed. His remains rest at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service. Entombment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the mission fund at Immanuel Baptist Church, 3601 Monument Avenue, Richmond, Virginia 23230.
