Man charged after police chase from Chesterfield ends in Goochland

A 24-year-old local man is in custody after police said he led officers on a multi-jurisdictional pursuit early today that ended with his arrest in Goochland County.

Daniel W. Diggs was charged with eluding police, driving with a suspended license, defective equipment and having altered decals on his license plates.

Chesterfield police spokeswoman Elizabeth Caroon said the incident began after a county officer tried to stop a 2002 Pontiac with defective equipment about 2 a.m. in the 100 block of Turner Road.

Goochland man arrested on 17 child pornography charges

Virginia State Police have arrested Paul E. McKinney, 43, on child pornography charges.

He was taken into custody without incident Wednesday evening, March 21, at his Goochland County residence.

He is being held without bond at the Henrico County Jail on 17 felony counts of child pornography distribution.

Each charge carries a penalty of a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $2,500 fine.

Goochland man arrested on child pornography charges

A Goochland County man is behind bars tonight for distribution of child pornography. Virginia State Police took Paul E. McKinney, 43, into custody without incident Wednesday evening, March 21, at his Goochland County residence.

He is being held without bond at the Henrico County Jail on 17 felony counts of child pornography distribution. Each charge carries a penalty of a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $2,500 fine.

East end of county seeing more break-ins says Sheriff Agnew

Home break-ins, an ongoing problem in Goochland County, have recently shifted from the central county to the eastern area, according to Goochland Sheriff Jim Agnew.

At a “Law Enforcement Briefing” Feb. 16 at Centerville Fire Station, Agnew told about 70 residents of District 4 that the easy access to the county created by Route 288 is one of the big reasons the eastern part of the county has seen an increase in home break-ins.

The Goochland County Sheriff’s Office will be holding the Spring 2012 Sheriff’s Citizens’ Academy starting on February 22nd. Goochland man faces drug charges in Henrico incident

Henrico County authorities investigating the shooting death of a 22-year-old man last week have made an arrest related to the case.

Funeral services were held today for Dreshaun Antonio Travis of the 800 block of Willomet Lane in Henrico. Travis’ death has been listed as a homicide by the state medical examiner’s office; he was shot in the chest.

Man arrested on car theft charge

Taylor Bernard Martin, 44, was arrested Monday for grand larceny by Augusta County sheriff’s deputies, where he is being held.

Martin was to be arraigned by video conference Monday afternoon in Goochland General District Court.

According to Goochland Sheriff James L. Agnew, Martin attempted to steal a vehicle at the Ashland Road Park and Ride adjacent to I-64 on the afternoon of Dec. 10. Grubbs sentenced to four years in prison

Former Goochland Treasurer Brenda S. Grubbs broke down in tears at the end of her sentencing hearing Tuesday.

“I would like to apologize to the citizens of Goochland for betraying their trust. I know it was wrong,” she said before losing her composure.

But Goochland Circuit Court Judge Timothy K. Sanner still sentenced Grubbs to 40 years on the 20 counts she pleaded guilty to in August, with all but four years suspended.

She will also be required to make restitution for the approximately $180,000 she embezzled from the county.

Goochland bus driver files assault charges against Transportation Supervisor (UPDATED)

A Goochland Schools bus driver has filed assault charges against the head of transportation for the school system.

An incident on the morning of Oct. 13 between the driver, Tonya Gilman, and Betty Thurston, Supervisor of Transportation for Goochland Public Schools, led to Gilman filing a complaint for assault and battery against Thurston, a class 1 misdemeanor.

Sheriff James Agnew confirmed by phone that afternoon that the summons was served on Thurston at 12:15 p.m.

Bicyclist’s death brings $30 fine in traffic case

A Hanover County judge convicted a Manakin-Sabot resident Wednesday of failing to yield in a bicycle-pickup truck collision that killed well-known competitive cyclist Michael J. Fawell.

Fawell, 38, struck the passenger side of a pickup truck driven by Gerald Lee Anderson, 70, of the 600 block of Nelwood Road in Goochland County, and died from massive head trauma at VCU Medical Center in Richmond on Aug. 29, four days after the crash.
