A Henrico County man working as a landscaper was killed this afternoon when struck by a falling tree as he worked on a job site in the 200 block of Hill Point Road in the Lower Tuckahoe subdivision in Goochland.
Javier Hernandez, 56, was struck by the tree, apparently felled by high winds, at about 1 p.m. today, reported Goochland Sheriff’s Office Public Information officer Chad Hatton.
A supervisor for the landscaping company called 911 when he heard the tree fall and found Hernandez. Hernandez’s adult son was also working at the site when the incident occurred.
Hatton said Goochland County Fire-Rescue personnel pronounced Hernandez dead at the scene.
Sheriff’s Deputies conducted an investigation of the incident. Hernandez’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, standard procedure in any death from trauma attributable to an accident, said Hatton.
