A Bumpass man charged in a string of break-ins this past fall will stand trial in February.
Christopher Michael Scott, 22, appeared in Goochland County Circuit Court last Thursday for arraignment. His bench trial is scheduled for Feb. 15 at 9:30 a.m., according to Goochland Commonwealth’s Attorney Claiborne H. Stokes, Jr.
A grand jury returned six felony indictments Dec. 11 against Scott, who was apprehended Nov. 15 during a routine traffic stop east of Georges Tavern on Va. Route 6.
Scott is charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of grand larceny, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Meanwhile, Irving Lery “Chubby” Martin appeared in court last week as well, receiving an arraignment date of Jan. 22 at 9: 30 a.m.
Martin, 46, was indicted earlier this month on counts of rape, breaking-and-entering with intent to commit rape, forcible sodomy, arson of a motor vehicle and two counts of grand larceny, all felonies.
In addition to the six felony counts, he also still faces a misdemeanor assault-and-battery charge for which he was scheduled to be in court at the time of the other incident.
He’ll be represented by Paul Gregorio at his arraignment, though changes in his representation may become official during that hearing, Stokes said.
