Kwamane Gordon Davis, 21, is wanted by the Goochland Sheriff’s Office for first degree murder after a Sunday morning shooting that left one man dead and two others injured. Originally from Columbia, Va., Davis may be in the Richmond area where he has family, said authorities.

In addition to the murder charge, Davis faces charges of shooting in the commission of a felony and using a firearm while committing murder.

At a Sunday afternoon press conference, Goochland Sheriff James Agnew described a chaotic scene as sheriff’s deputies arrived at a residence in the 3600 block of Hadensville-Fife Road in western Goochland shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

Agnew said that 50 to100 guests had attended a baby shower at the house, when an altercation led to violence. Many guests were leaving as the authorities arrived.

According to witnesses interviewed by investigators, Davis and other unidentified individuals chased and shot 24-year-old Dwayne Richard Hardy dead after Hardy shot their friend, Alvin Daniels, 23, three times in the back with a .38 caliber revolver.

“Witnesses said friends of the wounded Daniels pursued Hardy across the front yard of the property and shot him in the back of the head.” Agnew said a shotgun and a 9 mm pistol were used.

Kwamane Gordon Davis and others then left in a vehicle, firing more rounds, one of which struck a 54-year-old Goochland man as he slept in a vehicle, according to witnesses.

Agnew said that the deceased victim had not been invited to the party.

Both injured men were taken to VCU Medical Center. Hardy’s body was sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond.

Individuals should not approach or attempt to apprehend Davis. He is considered armed and dangerous, said Goochland Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Chad Hatton.

Anyone with knowledge of the whereabouts of Kwamane Gordon Davis is asked to contact the Goochland Sheriff’s Office at 804-556-5349 or the nearest law enforcement agency.

Or call Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers 804-780-1000.
