Louisa man arrested after 20 mile chase on I-64

A 22-year-old Louisa man is in custody after he crashed his pickup truck through a guard rail and into a utility pole after a chase down Interstate 64.
Ernest D. Jones Jr. of Cross County Road in Mineral is facing charges for felony eluding and DUI after he was clocked by a Goochland deputy driving 97 mph on Broad Street Road near Route 28.
Jones failed to stop and fled west on I-64. Near the Oilville interchange, a second Goochland deputy deployed a tire deflation device and flattened three of the truck’s four tires. Jones continued to flee westbound at speeds approaching 80 mph.
Louisa county deputies and units form the Virginia State Police joined in the pursuit near the Gum Spring interchange.
Jones exited I-64 at the Hadensville exit, crashed through a guard rail and into a Rappahannock Electric CO-OP Utility pole which fell across Old Fredericksburg Road.
Jones and his passenger, who is being charged with being drunk in public, fled on foot and were apprehended after a short foot pursuit.
