Henrico County authorities investigating the shooting death of a 22-year-old man last week have made an arrest related to the case.

Funeral services were held today for Dreshaun Antonio Travis of the 800 block of Willomet Lane in Henrico. Travis’ death has been listed as a homicide by the state medical examiner’s office; he was shot in the chest.

A Goochland County resident, John R. Phifer, 22, of 2300 Good Luck Road, has been arrested on drug charges in the case after officers responded to a Twin Hickory address Jan. 18 regarding a shooting and found Phifer there, bloody from injuries he said he suffered in an altercation.

The altercation and shootings both occurred at an apartment in the 3000 block of Quarter Creek Lane, where Travis’ body was found.

Phifer has been charged with felony possession of a weapon while possessing controlled drugs, drug conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute. Earlier this week, Phifer was denied bond at a hearing in Henrico General District Court after a prosecutor said a criminal investigation is continuing.
