The new Courthouse Village and Nadolski’s Butcher Shop hosted the Goochland Chamber’s March Business After Hour’s, together with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, on Thursday, March 26, 2009.  Chamber of Commerce representatives together with District 3 Supervisor Ned Creasy, Georgia Rae Roberts chair of the Goochland County Economic Development Authority were delighted to welcome the Courthouse Village and Nadolski’s Butcher Shop to Goochland.

John Adamson developer of Courthouse Village and John Nadolski owner of Nadolski’s Butcher Shop were pleased to host Chamber businesses.  John stated, “Where can you find small town charm, modern amenities, and the understated elegance of Colonial architecture?”  John developed the office complex in the heart of Goochland County and it presents a unique opportunity for retail shops, medical, restaurants and offices.  The Courthouse Village includes fourteen units varying from 1100 to 1500 square feet.  Units may be combined to meet a variety of business needs.  Amenities include ample parking, roadside signage, high speed wireless Internet, cable television, and optional kitchenette.  For further details, you may contact John Adamson at 804-750-9914 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

The Chamber was extremely delighted to welcome Nadolski’s Butcher Shop to the Goochland Courthouse.  Who would have guessed that Goochland had a pent up desire for fresh oysters? John Nadolski, who recently opened Nadolski’s Butcher Shop in the Courthouse Village at 2913 River Road West, has had to increase the order from his supplier to a bushel a week in order to keep up with the demand.  He’s also been pleasantly surprised by the local taste for fresh-smoked fish, foie gras and duck paté. And customers are lining up to buy steaks and pre-order his $45 meat-for-the-week package, which includes an assortment of fresh meats designed to feed two people for a week.

But what Nadolski likes providing most of all is a pleasant experience. “Shopping for food shouldn’t seem like a chore,” he says, and he goes out of his way to combine high quality meat and seafood with personal service. The ambiance of the shop is warm and inviting, with cookbooks and magazines available for perusing and luminescent paintings by Goochland artist André Lucero decorating the walls.

“It’s almost like it’s not work,” says Nadolski of his new business. He’s come a long way from his first job working the snack bar at Bowl America at 15. His love of food led him to continue working his way up in the field, culminating in a position as chef at Richmond’s La Petite France. When that restaurant closed, it served as the impetus for pursuing the dream of having his own shop, and he finds the slower pace a welcome change.

What’s next? Nadolski hopes to add grass-fed beef from local suppliers and to be able to take orders for whole cows and sides of beef. When the Goochland Farmers Market opens for business again this spring, the shop will open earlier to meet the needs of market goers. For now, he’s just enjoying the opportunity to share his knowledge and passion for food with his fellow Goochlanders.  Nadolski’s Butcher Shop is located at 2913 River Road West, Goochland, VA (804) 556-4888 http://www.nadolskisbutchershop.co

A visit to this new butcher shop is a must.  What a wonderful variety they offer.  The crabmeat was out of this world and I have heard that the sausage and lamb is just as wonderful.  Thank you for bringing the butcher shop back to our area.  I am in Powhatan, but it isn’t far and more than worth the trip!!!  Good Luck and success with your new business!

Nadolski store visit was perfect, delicate flavor, meaty. And last night, defrosted Beechwood Farm ground beef and made Vietnamese Meatball soup. Just gotta get a few more lbs of their ground beef.
