My name is Betty Rowe, and I will be starting my senior year at Longwood University in a few weeks- where, for the last 3 years I have been studying studio art with a concentration in drawing and painting.  In the art department at Longwood, we are required to present a senior project prior to graduation that all relates to a theme of our choice.  With a drawing and painting concentration, I have to compose a total of at least 12 paintings/ drawings.  Last fall I composed an oil pastel drawing of Clover Forest Plantation in Goochland County, and my professor absolutely loved it.  He has encouraged/ pushed me to based my overall project on “What makes Goochland County Important/ standout?”  I have been brainstorming many ideas for my paintings- but unfortunately I am terrible at executing a photograph to paint from.  I have great ideas- but somehow cannot seem to capture them in an interesting way.  (I passed my photography class with a C.)

Born and raised in Goochland County, I have always been “wowed” but the magnificent sites and events our great county offers.  As a young girl I participated in many local activities from GYAA Softball (from the age of 5-18),  Goochland Day parades, volunteer mission projects… etc.  When my professor began encouraging me to push my senior project in this direction I knew I wanted to somehow capture one of Goochland’s Finest activities, the Cadillac Polo Match.  I love the pictures on here by Patrick Dobbs, and was looking for a way to get in touch with him about releasing the images. I will greatly appreciate all the help I can get.
