The Marriage of Lara Reid Burchett, daughter of Larry and Linda Burchett of Manakin Sabot, Va. to Christopher Wayne Williams, son of Betty Williams of Richmond, Va. and the late Lenny L. Williams was performed on May 14, 2011 at Richmond Country Club. The Reverends Elisheva and Wade Clegg officiated.
The bride is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George M. Rose and Mr. and Mrs. Dewey H. Burchett. The groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hanks and Mrs. Everett Williams of Richmond, Va. and the late Everett Williams. The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. The bride wore a white crystal and pearl gown by Oleg Cassini and carried a bouquet of Gerber Daisies which also contained memorabilia from her grandparents.
Maid of honor was Katja Glowatz of Berlin, Germany, Lara’s exchange “sister” during high school. Matron of Honor was Catherine Campbell of Ononcock, Va., a long time friend of the bride. Flower girls were Ryleigh Joyner of Portsmouth, Va. and Michelle Campbell of Ononcock, Va., goddaughter of the bride.
Best Man was Edward Williams of King William, Va., brother of the groom. Groomsman was Gary Williams of Richmond, Va., brother of the groom. Ushers were Harry Handcock, III, Chet Bush and Jamie Hazelwood, friends of the bride and groom. Ring Bearers were Failyn and Seth Locklear of Watertown, N.Y. The Reader was Emily Sibitzky of Salem, Va. Guest Book attendant was Pam Hester, sister of the groom. Attendants were Kiara and Katelyn Williams, nieces of the groom. Ceremony Soloists were David Crittenden and Belinda Daughtery. Reception Pianist was Sarah Cothern. DJ was Jeremy Shire with Music of the Times. Grooms cake and wedding cupcakes were designed by Pearls Cupcake Shoppe.
The bride had two bridal showers; the Richmond shower was hosted by Denise Dysert and the Portsmouth shower was hosted by aunts of the bride. Richmond Country Club was the site of the rehearsal dinner and “meet and greet” on Friday night hosted by the brides’ parents. The wedding ceremony, seated luncheon and reception also took place at Richmond County Club.
The bride and groom left the reception in a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible, a replica of the brides’ father’s first car. The couple honeymooned in Orlando, Fla. The couple will reside in Henrico, VA.
The bride graduated from Goochland High School and Liberty University. The bride is currently employed as a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty in Richmond, VA. The groom attended Benedictine and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. The groom also attended Oakhurst College. The groom is currently employed as a night auditor for the Holiday Inn in Richmond, Va.
